Majicko 1.1.0 Almost Complete

I've been working hard on Majicko 1.1.0 lately. Some of the new and most impressive features include an event calendar (with its own column block), improved template engine for layouts and column blocks, and a fantastic user comment system for media archives.

The calendar is quite impressive. When you first navigate to it, the calendar naturally shows the current month by default. You can then navigate through the months with complete freedom. The calendar supports single events and recurring events over a wide range of frequencies (i.e. daily, weekly, weekends, weekdays, etc.).

The template engine greatly eliminates the need to know any PHP to edit your site's layout. You will need to know some HTML and CSS, however. PHP variables can now be placed directly into the template. I have also extended the template engine to include column blocks. A new block class has also been added, the "special" block which includes blocks that are not placed in the columns. These blocks are defined automatically throughout the site, but must be placed manually (i.e. the top menu and footer blocks).

The user comment system is probably the most exciting feature. A text field appears on media display pages for logged in members to comment on media (i.e. photos, blogs, etc.). It is somewhat reminiscent of the user comment system on Youtube, except the comment system on Majicko 1.1 supports avatars. There is an Ajax spam link visible to all members on each comment for easy spam reporting. Admin and media owners can moderate the comments on their media as well through the use of a delete link on each comment visible only to admin and media owners.

Majicko 1.1.0 is expected to launch very soon. At which point, the BETA version of Majicko will disappear from Majicko.com.
